Real Art for Growing Hearts

Little Blue Theatre Company produces inclusive, professional theatre for and with young people, from birth through adolescence, in Nashville and across Middle Tennessee. We believe children deserve art that reflects the full complexity of their experience. We center belonging, access, and authentic collaboration in everything we make, and we believe that creating space for every child to be fully themselves is not a soft ideal. It’s the work.

Honoring children not for who they will become, but for who they already are.

How do you smile? On the outside—or just on the inside?

All Smiles is a joyful, interactive performance for ages 0–6 that celebrates the full spectrum of emotion. Through color, movement, and sensory play, young audiences help characters move through moments of upset, excitement, and disappointment.

This isn’t about “calming down.” It’s about learning to move through big feelings safely, together—practicing real regulation tools through play.

Journey of the Noble Gnarble

Presented by
The Blue Sky Ensemble

Our 8-12 year old Students
Book, Music & Lyrics by Denver Casado
Based on “The Journey of the Noble Gnarble” by Daniel Errico Illustrations by Tiffany Turrill

The ocean floor is filled with the rarest of creatures, but none are as rare as gnarbles. Their fins are small, their tails are floppy, and they’ve never strayed far from home…until now. Journey of the Noble Gnarble follows one little gnarble with a big dream, determined to swim toward the surface of the sea—past doubting Blyfish, sneaky Subbalubbles, and hungry Plinks – until they finally break through and see the sky.

Heart with Number One

The Indigo Ensemble

Our 13-18 year old Students
Based on the poem by Farid ud-Din Attar. Stage version by Peter Brook and Jean-Claude Carriere.

The Conference of the Birds is a soaring, reimagining of the 12th-century Sufi epic poem by Persian poet Farid ud-Din Attar. This timeless story, brought to life through movement, music, and wonder, invites audiences of all ages to reflect on community, loss, and the power of self-discovery – reminding us that what we seek may already live within us.
