Open Sourced Theatre Game Library

Because play is serious work.
A free, living resource for teaching artists, educators, and youth theatre leaders. Built by Little Blue. Owned by the field.

What this is

This started as our internal collection at Little Blue. Warm-ups, ensemble-builders, focus games, improv exercises. Over time it grew into something worth sharing.

So we shared it. And now we’re inviting you to add to it.

Every entry includes an age range, a Considerations column that flags access and inclusion factors (not as warnings, as information), and a link to a directions document. The more people contribute, the more useful it gets.

How it works

The library lives in Google Sheets. It’s open and editable. You can sort and filter by category, age range, or Considerations tags. You can add games, write in your variations, and note what worked with your students.

Flags

Add, don’t delete. If you’d describe a game differently, leave a note rather than overwriting someone else’s entry. Version history is on, so nothing is permanently lost.

About the Considerations tags

Tags like ContactVerbalEliminative, and High-volume flag common access factors. They’re descriptive, not prohibitive. Most games can be adapted by changing rules, framing, or participation options. The legend lives inside the spreadsheet.

Credit

Many of these games are part of long oral traditions in drama education. Where specific sources are known, credit lives in the directions documents. If you recognize an attribution we should add, tell us.
