A Silent Comedy Full of Holiday Heart and Hijinks
Welcome to Sugar Falls. Where it’s the most wonderful time of the year… mostly.
Newlyweds on their first Christmas together are trying to figure out how to celebrate—one wants an extra-special holiday spectacle, while the other just wants a quiet night on the couch. Down the block, the bell shop and the whistle shop are feuding again, and this time it’s about leaves. Meanwhile, three postal carriers are struggling through winter weather and an unusually vengeful bird to deliver the season’s very last letter. And through it all, a street musician plays along, hoping someone might finally stop and listen.
Sleigh is told through physical comedy and live music, in the tradition of silent films by Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton. There’s no dialogue to follow or translate, so everybody in the audience laughs at the exact same moment. This truly intergenerational piece reaches across language differences, disability, and attention spans—Sleigh is for anyone ages 5… to 105.
Originally created by PB&J Theatre Factory.
This project is funded in part by the Tennessee Arts Commission.
